Refinement takes a notable step up and the preispiste of muscularity, particularly in bass frequencies, gets better. All four voices were reproduced with warm, rich, lifelike presence and very little sense of an enclosure because of the remarkably three-dimensional projection of the quartet in front of the speakers and this with a digital source.
But this year the presentation was better than that. Given time, though, that character fades, leaving just exceptional transparency and smoothness. Extremely lifelike on voice on Ms. Judging from Chopin Impromptu No. Even from the first second of music, the listener is well aware of a splendidly silky refinement and an ability to uncover the tiniest of details. There are good reasons why this speaker is so popular. The speakers sounded far more like what I’m used to: The Living Voice Vox Palladium and Vox Elysiana more-than-a-million-dollar system including electronics and wiring, which only goes to prove, to quote Roy Gregory who reviewed these gorgeous thingsthat life is no fairer in high-end audio than it is anywhere else.
However, on a second visit two days later, that veil was seemingly lifted on a Fairfield Four recording. We wish more high-end firms had such an attitude. And a joy to listen to: The little monitors did equally well with prwisliste jazz LP, producing lovely cymbals, superb sax, and well-defined standup bass. The preisliete was gorgeous on a four-piece jazz ensemble recording, with excellent color and dynamics.
Full-bodied, powerful, present, and surprisingly of a piece from top to bottom though not at the utterly seamless level of the Living Voiceit sounded wonderful to my ears. A Best of Show contender, for sure.

On the Stokowski Rhapsodies LP there was way too much bite on the strings, producing an orchestral sound that was unforgivably bright.
A BOS contender, in fact. In other words, rather than sound rough when cold, the Burmesters are a little polite, if massively informative. I didn’t get to hear this imposing number with a shipping weight of over one tonbut Robert reported that it sounded wonderful. Still, that plasma tweeter was terrific. Our sample was fitted with an on-board digital-to-analogue converter, but other options include an unbalanced line level input and moving-magnet preislishe moving-coil phono stages.
The system never sounds rushed or stressed: This was a very very good sound. For Intricate, powerful sound terrific dynamics and volume exceptional build. Driven by Voxativ electronics and Totaldac digital no analogthe Due sounded exceedingly lovely on guitar, voice, drumkit, and bass.

An evolution of the RC7, which made my Top Five, the RC8 uses the same driver complement as the 7 but with a more elaborate crossover and enclosure. Such a sky-high price tag leads to massively high expectations when it comes to build, finish and performance.
For my fifth selection for Best Sounding room, I find myself vurmester a bit of a quandary. The sound was beautiful.
That these big, powerful and pricey amplifiers produce a sound packed with scale, authority and composure comes as no surprise. Driven by Nagra electronics including one of its great reel-to-reel tape playerthe Alexias had superb balance, gorgeous tone color, very deep and well-defined bass, and an overall realism that brought them very close to a Best of Show award. Even a quick glance will tell you that — visually at least — the Burmesters are serious high-end audio bling.
There’s also a straight-through connection designed to be used with the front channel outputs of a surround processor, allowing the to be integrated into a home cinema system, no shortage of balanced XLR line level inputs, andf even twin headphone outputs.
Not only were there pgeisliste products on display—imagine a collision between CEDIA and CES in their prime—but the sound was, for the most part, better too. If you can afford it, buy it right now.
However, when I returned on Day Three…what a difference!
They even have a decent sense of timing. I stopped to pay my respects to Mr. Driven by Vitus electronics and sourced by a Transrotor turntable, the RC7 MkII was absolutely superb on my Deano disc, producing the most fool-you realistic vocals of the show.
These control minor operations such as the brightness of the display or preamp phase play with it — it makes a difference in some systemsbut each switch does more than one thing depending on whether you press down or push up. Still, overall balance was sweet and warm with good resolution.
This is a superb speaker from a company that richly deserves distribution in the U. The preislidte derived from the company statement preamp, which was launched all the bufmester back in Dark and rich in timbre with superb power range weight and color, sweet treble, and outstanding transient response, the Akiras sounded exceptionally beautiful, exciting, and high in resolution.
However, it fell down on a James Taylor vocal, where it sounded ill-focused and badly sucked out at crossover. Had the bass not been quite so boomy in this room the Kawero!

Obviously, a Best of Show contender, but…at a price. The internal layout is are logical and packed with enviably high quality components, and the preamp has some novel features, not least of which are a self-balancing phono stage, designed to handle any channel inequalities in phono cartridges, and a module slot, which provides a line input as standard but can accept a range of plug-ins to expand the flexibility. Burjester, this was the best I’ve heard Cessaro sound. Raidho also showed its D4. On a second visit, after the Magico team had given up on analog sources and switched over to digital, the speaker sounded much warmer and fuller in the power range on a viola da gamba recording, with enough body and color to make for a very attractive sound with plenty of air and ambience.
The result is a system that has all the extension, color, smoothness, bloom, power, pace, speed, focus, and definition you could possibly ask for, without any of the coloration, roughness, or discontinuity of typical horn-loaded speakers.
